AMD Ryzen series is a new generation of AMD CPU’s which released in 2016, the first CPU’s released was Ryzen 1 1700, 1700x and 1800x on the same day March 2, 2017. The 1800x MSRP was 499, 1700x 399 and 1700 329. The R7 line up is a powerful lineup with 8 cores and 16 threads which is a beast at workloads as 3D modeling, video rendering etc. While being really great at workloads like those I mentioned they are also a fantastic pair of CPU’s which can be a beast at gaming too, but not as good as the Intel ones because of their higher single core speeds and clocks speeds.

The whole lineup of Ryzen processors are good but the only thing that’s holding it’s back is the poor single core speeds that makes it not that favorable for high refresh rate monitors. But that doesn’t mean it’s not going to be good at gaming the 2700x is only 10-15% slower than an 8700k while gaming (depending on the game) but it still has better minimum FPS which can make the game more enjoyable and is better at workstation loads. But not as good for high FPS gaming but it’s still comparable at the same price if not cheaper if you are getting it used which is about 250-300 for a new 2700x which I, recommend you get if you are planning to get a high-end GPU as a 2080TI or a Radeon VII.
