AMD Radeon VII just released on the 7th of February, and the launch hasn’t been the best for AMD. As the first consumer 7nm GPU on the market, AMD promised a similar performance as the RTX 2080 from NVIDIA. The card is directly the successor for the VEGA 64, and it delivers about a modestly 30% increase of performance in games and massively in workstation scenarios, which this card looks like it’s more suited for than only gaming. But that doesn’t mean you can’t game on it, it’s only 8-15% slower than the RTX 2080 and a bit lower than a 1080ti.

I’m impressed that AMD has made a high-end GPU in a while, but they still should be mostly focusing on the mid to entry level of GPU’s but it’s nice to see them improving while not having as much money as Nvidia to use on their GPU’s. But it’ll be interesting to see if they can refine their drivers as they have been doing for every driver like for the VEGA 56, 64, RX 5xx series.
